Pool Barrier Re-Inspection
On-site verification of barrier rectifications following an Owner Notice.
Rectification & Statutory Deadlines
If your initial or renewal inspection identified non-compliant barrier elements, your inspector will have issued an Owner Notice detailing the items that must be corrected. Under the Victorian Building Regulations, owners have a statutory period of up to 60 days to complete all required rectifications.
Once your repairs or adjustments have been carried out, a formal re-inspection must be booked to verify that the barrier now complies with the mandated standard.
On-Site Physical Inspection Required
Please note that under Victorian legislation and Victorian Building Authority guidelines, inspectors cannot accept photographs or videos as proof of barrier compliance. An inspector must physically test and verify the repairs on site.
What Happens at the Re-Inspection
During the re-inspection, the inspector checks all items listed on the original Owner Notice. If all rectifications have been completed satisfactorily and no new safety issues have been introduced, your inspector will issue a Form 23 Certificate of Barrier Compliance immediately.
If items remain non-compliant after the re-inspection, the inspector is legally obligated under the Building Act 1993 to issue a Certificate of Barrier Non-Compliance (Form 24) to your local municipal council.
